We are thrilled to announce that our documentary, The Last Daughter, will have a national cinema release in Australia from June 15th, 2023.

Directed by Brenda Matthews and Nathaniel Schmidt, The Last Daughter tells the story of Brenda, who grew up in a loving white foster family before being suddenly taken away and returned to her Aboriginal family. Decades later, she feels disconnected from both halves of her life. But the traumas of her past do not lie quietly buried. So, she goes searching for the foster family with whom she had lost all contact. Along the way, she uncovers long-buried secrets, government lies, and the possibility for deeper connections to family and culture.

The Last Daughter is a powerful and moving documentary that explores the complexities of identity, family, and history. It is a story that resonates with many Australians who have experienced the impact of the Stolen Generations.

We are proud to have been a part of this project and to have worked with Brenda and Nathaniel to bring this important story to the screen. We hope that audiences will be moved by Brenda’s journey and will be inspired to learn more about the ongoing struggles for justice and reconciliation in Australia.
